A Global Citizenship Alliance Faculty Fellow, Dr. Erin L. Kelley is a Professor of Composition and Literature at Dallas College and a part-time lecturer at The University of Texas at Dallas, She holds terminal degrees in both literature (PhD) and law (JD).
In Dr. Kelley's book, Law, Literature, and Violence Against Women: Ending the Victim Blame Game, (Routledge, 2024), she writes about themes in law and literature that blame the victim instead of the wrongdoer.
Dr. Kelley is a recipient of the Developing Learning Power Teaching Award. At UT Dallas, she is one among six professors in the nation who teaches the course, Legal Research and Writing for undergraduate students. She also teaches courses such as Gender & Justice in American Literature, Race and Identity in World Literature, and Decision-Making in the Age of Social Media.
Dr. Kelley has authored several academic articles, has presented at academic and professional conferences, and has spoken about narratives in law and literature that portray unjust bias against members of different minority groups.
When Dr. Kelley isn’t teaching and writing about the connections between law and literature, she serves on the Board of Directors for the non-profit organization, Legacy Cares. Legacy Cares assists people who are living with HIV/AIDS in the Dallas/Ft. Worth community. Her other frequent activities include spending time with friends and family, working out, traveling, and riding her horse.
